New Hopetoun Gardens Garden Centre Edinburgh
The Garden Centre and Tearoom is now open everyday from 10.00am. We'll be offering a reduced menu for the time being as distancing only allows so many working in our kitchen. It's a first come first served basis so no need to book a table. Last orders 4.30 pm. Please wear facemasks inside the buildings and in the covered canopies, maintaining 2 metre social distancing at all times.

Situated to the west of Edinburgh, Dougal Philip and Lesley Watson first set-up the garden centre over 40 years ago. New Hopetoun Gardens has grown well over the years. Now, with a well-stocked gift shop, our popular Orangery tearoom, and a fantastic reputation as one of Edinburgh's best-stocked garden centres, we continue to focus on variety, choice and quality.

Use our Plant Finder to search our website for useful info and tips on your favourite plants. Known locally as The Plant People and run by skilled gardeners with a genuine passion for growing and gardening, we select our garden plants and shrubs very carefully, so we know they will grow well in Scotland.
Services
Respected gardening duo Dougal Philip and Lesley Watson hand control of the Garden Centre they established over 40 years ago to their loyal team.
Set within Hopetoun Woods between South Queensferry and Linlithgow, not far from the north-bound start of the Queensferry Crossing near Edinburgh, the well-known garden centre - which includes a well-stocked gift shop and Orangery tearoom - has until now been a family business.
Owners Dougal Philip and his wife Lesley Watson are renowned in the gardening world.
We have just been reading about research from around the world that has confirmed something that many gardeners already knew - gardening is really good for you!
The same report told us that 49.5% of us do some gardening every week, but this doesn't mean that the other half can't enjoy some benefits from gardens or gardening, even in the middle of winter - so let's 'grow ourselves healthy.'
It's easy to understand that gardening can keep us active and fit as well as feeding our creative side.
But you don't actually need to do any gardening for gardens to work on your emotions and make you feel better and give you pleasure.
We hope you enjoyed this years event and thanks to everyone who voted for their favourite.
Thanks must also go to our fabulous artists for creating their pieces and displaying them with us.
Following the triumph of last year's Lockdown Virtual Art in the Garden Festival we are thrilled to once again invite you to join with us in the real world to celebrate the talents of various selected local outdoor artists.
As usual, you will be delighted to discover the various strategically-placed artworks as you stroll around our gardens and plants.
Explore our small gardens each month, from the Winter Walk in the Woodland, through the timeless Oriental Garden, the ever-changing pattern of crops in the Potager, the summer warmth of the Sensuous Retreat, the different moods in the Calm Relaxed and Vibrant Exciting Gardens, to the Scottish Garden which has something for every season and taste.
Most of our themed gardens have a Designer Collection plantlist that goes with them.
These lists are available free from the garden centre when you visit us.
Most of our 18 or so themed gardens at New Hopetoun have an associated Designer Plant List available for free.
These fact sheets give valuable extra information on the plants we use, why we picked them, and how to care for them.
We have a lovely dedicated "Dog Parking" station available for dog owners.
You'll find it situated near the main garden centre entrance, but we are afraid dogs are not allowed inside, as the Garden Centre currently provides a safe home for several Rescue cats : Learn More.
